Current Sophomore at RUC. Living on campus can be a tricky, if your at 330 cooper its a good experience but towers and apartment side are shit. You'll often find mold in the shower or ugly stained rugs.. OLD and out dated! Also if your waiting for an elevator..good luck their all VERY OLD and stop working often (even after they fix it, it will break a week later..) As for building wise, most of the buildings are outdated and need renovation unless your at the gym (really nice).. Having a meal plan has plus and minuses. Minuses, food becomes boring very quickly and its mostly all junk, greasy food, not much variety. Plus(s) really the only thing is being able to buy Starbucks on the meal plan which includes being able to buy merchandise too. Your choices for food at the school are the cafe, 7 eleven, subway, small sandwich shop, or victor. The Ascetics as they put it, are starting to look better as they are planting flowers and trying to make it work.. This is a small campus which is kind of cool because you can get to class quickly and have everything around you in walking distance compared to New Brunswick where it can take you 15-20 mins to get to class. As for security, yes you ARE in CAMDEN so obviously you have to watch out for the camden stragglers that can come onto campus. During the DAY security is pretty good plus you have a police station on campus. During the NIGHT most of the staff is reduced to like 1/6 so their is less staff on but always a guard in the MAIN areas during certain night hours. On THURSDAY and friday nights it seems that the police presence is more noticed around 8-12 but after 12 I rarely see security other than a police mans car parked to act like someone is their but no one is inside. SAT or SUN on campus is pretty much dry for any security unless their is a function/event going on. Also this is a commuter school so pretty much after 6pm everyone is GONE! Weekends at the school make it look like no one goes here. Parking can become crazy even for residents since their is limited parking spots. CAMPUS WILL TICKET YOU if you park where your not supposed to. Also BIG THING, if you live at 330 cooper you have to park a block away at the TOWERs side, SUCKS! Unless its the weekend, parking at 330 cooper isn't permitted but to who no one knows. Teachers, most of the teachers are decent! Some are very boring and clearly suck at teaching just their for from their resume and some cannot speak/barely know english. Most of the teachers here are very helpful and really want to help! SMALL CLASSES are a plus but can also suck because you can be called on if your not participating. SOCIAL LIFE, very little to none. I DO live on campus and I can say IM involved! Their are CLUBS but most likely they dont really do anything, its one of those things that the president just puts on his resume. GREEK LIFE? their presence on campus is known with everyone wearing their letters but having few OUTSIDE events for students. FRATS rarely host parties at all unless your a member then they might host a few but its still rare.. As for parties, its at the same places everything with the SAME people… Soccer house, Frat houses (rare), or someone has a little party at a house on point. Most of the parties aren't bad but it feels like your at a small high school not a Real COLLEGE party like you'd experience at TEMPLE or UPENN. BTW their are some creepy people that like to straggle onto our campus like 30-50 year old men. One guy is WILL, he's at 35 year old man who lives across the street from the school but ends up at most parties by himself and creeps on all girls, watch out. Or you'll see homeless people digging into the trashcans late at night which makes me feel terrible… Consider going to the subway and taking a night out at temple to experience fun if your locked up at camden or visit the city for fun… Being next to philly can really be a plus with places to eat, things to do, and internship opportunities. COST, the cost of the school is VERY GOOD! Compared to DREXEL or UPENN or TEMPLE you save a ton of cash but you get what you pay for. DEGREE, you get a RUTGERS Degree and YES it will say CAMDEN on it. If you go here when your out you have that weird conversation with someone when they ask where you go to school and you most likely say Rutgers University never Rutgers Camden. Next question is always "oh new brunswick?" then your left feeling weird by saying "no camden". OVERALL, this school has its ups and downs but its a decent school to save a lot of money, get shit done and graduate with a good degree, and really focus on yourself and not get caught up into that party life but you can always experience a little something at camden or experience temple or other neighboring schools around whenever. OVERALL RATE IS A C. (terrible Grammar, sentences, a lot of errors but you can understand it, its okay its like Rutgers Camden in a way..)
