Major: Finance (This Major's Salary over time)
Socially: students are homogeneous, all coming from same upper middle class/catholic school background. While many come from money, they are some of the most insecure people one will ever come across. While everywhere has cliques, this uni has them like middle school; there is also no loyalty among them. Friends from out of town who have visited were appalled by their immature behavior, and as one of them put it: you know they all hate each other, yet they stay friends with each other for the sake of their own popularity. I was in these cliques, and needless to say as soon as graduation came, I only kept 3 friendships out of the 50 or so I had.

The business program is probably one of the biggest jokes going: it's not a real program. Professors are all retired from the business world and are there to feed their own egos, as they have no willingness to go that extra step to help make connections. Major companies only really accept resumes from Ivies and Boston College and NYU, not Fairfield. However, career planning boasts to everyone these grandiose internships and job opportunities, and when the majority of the study body does not even get a second interview to the internship, career planning turns around and says that the students do not try hard/or are not smart enough for the very positions! It has nothing to do with an inability, I have come across first hand information from HR reps that they literally throw out Fairfield resumes because it is not considered a prestigious school, or any school for that matter.

I graduated on dean's list, and my resume is phenomenal; however, it had nothing to do with Fairfield. I was able to do 2 internships (one of which I found on my own) in finance, both of which offered me positions. However, this had nothing to do with Fairfield, and the internship affiliated with Fairfield was one of the most dysfunctional companies I and others I know have ever worked with. Out of 800 people in my class, I can count on one hand the number of students who walked out with jobs, and then another 10% walked out with internships again. The rest have no job despite continued efforts before graduation.

THIS IS A WASTE OF A $200K+ education, and you will walk out more miserable and insecure with yourself than you walked in. College is meant to build teens into adults; however, Fairfield somehow manages to turn them into preteens.
