Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time)
Considering I don't have big bucks, I went to community college for two years then came to Western. The first thing about Western is that the financial aid is WONDERFUL. They pass aid out like candy. I received 10000 in grants and scholarships alone from my transfer GPA of 3.7. To begin, the counseling department was a total lifesaver. MSU screwed me over so I called WMU because a few family friends went there. I brought my transcript from CC, and within two weeks I was registered in classes and my financial aid was through. Transferring here is a snap. In regards to academics I have had no complaints. I am majoring in Econ and minoring in Math. To be honest, my challenging classes at community college were more difficult than the 'challenging' classes here. I haven't had one professor I haven't liked and rarely have had trouble understanding them or their assignments. It's a 'just do your work' environment, which I appreciate. For a student like me focused on school and work it really fits. I visited both MSU and U of M and felt like I was in some kind of degree factory. WMU is much more comfortable. The social life and parties are awesome. Hands down. I have met so many great people here and they always show me a good time. The best part is that Western is usually really quiet Sunday through Thursday. After school is done for the week there is ALWAYS something to do Friday and Saturday, and occasionally Thursday. I'm going to be honest and please excuse me if I sound vain but for an attractive girl there are tons of benefits. I don't think I've ever had to pay for one drink this entire year. The guy population is pretty good looking too. A lot of the girls are just complete a*sses though and I've found my friend base to be very one sided. The frats are a no-no zone. Just go to the student ghetto the house parties are waaaay better. Avoid the dorms though. Luckily I've always been working and I was able to afford a room so I've never had to experience it. But I don't really want to experience it.If you are able to keep your school life a priority (and avoid creepy guys) WMU is the school for you. Good luck!
