Major: Architecture (This Major's Salary over time)
I felt the need to write this review because a lot of the ones I've read can be faulty. I used StudentsReview to help choose what colleges to apply to. First off let me say, RPI is a PHENOMENAL school. Academics is top notch here. If you don't want to work, don't come here. With that being said there's a mantra that goes "Sleep, Grades, Social Life; You can only choose 2" That is pretty accurate. For RPI, and more specifically my major of Architecture, I'd change it to "Sleep, Grades, Social Life; You can only choose 1". Architecture is an insanely hard and time consuming major. If you don't love it, don't major in it. The school over all is a great school. The campus is quite beautiful especially in the fall (I'm currently a few months into my first year) and it is maintened pretty well also. The food is what you make of it. Commons dining hall is okay, there's usually something you'll like. Sage is much better. If you want good food, go there. Haven't tried Blitman or BARH yet. There are other places to eat, Pizzabella and Moe's are great and there are a few places in Troy to try. Sports aren't huge here but there are a ton of intramurals and pick up games like hockey that are worth checking out. Generally the people here are friendly. You'll find a group of people that fit your styles. It is a "nerd" school so you'll find some anti-social, math and video game obssessed people. But overall the student body is great. Now for the social life. Don't worry, if you like partying there's plenty of that. Greek life is becoming bigger and bigger here. Rush week offers a ton of stuff to try and there are parties almost every night if you're into that. And if you're not, don't worry, there are other things to do as well on the weekend. Overally it's a great school. RPI is becoming more and more well known and is being seen as a school that produces great interns/job applicants (businesses and companies LOVE hiring RPI students). If you're willing to put in the effort and time, you'll do well and enjoy the school! Email me if you have any questions.
