Overall, I have had a somewhat positive experience with UIC. I am a freshman from a local suburb about 20 minutes away, and I knew what I was getting into when I accepted here. I live in the dorms, which are very nice, and everyone here is very friendly. I think most of the people who review this school commute, and lets face it, youre really not going to make friends when you only show up to campus for class. People who say it is hard to make friends are most likely anti-social themselves, because I am pretty talkative and have made some amazing friends! The only bad thing about UIC is the general feel of the school. It is NOT your typical big university: there are no football games, no beautiful green quad, and not a lot of school spirit. The academics here (so far) have been going pretty well. Right now I am only enrolled in gen eds, but I have had a good experience with them. My professors are all quite good and I have been lucky to have not had an international professor yet. There are many complaints about professors not speaking English very well, but I havent had any problems yet.Overall, I really like UIC. You are one train stop away from the beautiful city, and there is ALWAYS something to do here. I just wish I could experience things like football games and big sorority events, but I'll just visit some of my friends at U of I for that.
