Major: Nursing (This Major's Salary over time)
The academics here are excellent. I cannot rave enough about how amazing the faculty and staff are here. They make it really easy to approach them for work, get involved with what they're doing, and just ask them for advice for any life problems you may have. As a freshmen who isn't from the East Coast, I really felt at home thanks to all of the wonderful staff here.

However, something people should know academics-wise about Fairfield is that this is a Jesuit school. Meaning that we do have a core that a lot of people dislike because it is so large. I actually learned a lot out of them and got to discover passions I wouldn't have discovered if I didn't take the classes. Being in the nursing school , I did appreciate being able to take classes that were outside of my major. I guess it just comes down to how open you are in taking something like religion or philosophy, whether you feel it's a waste of time or not and don't feel like you can't gain anything out of it.

Socially, this school can be a lot better. I'm not a drinker because alcoholism runs in my family, but there are a lot of students here who definitely do drink - a lot. If you're into that, you will definitely feel at home. However, I don't like that people drink for the sole purpose of getting drunk. Furthermore, I wish there was more diversity here. Geographic diversity especially, most people here are from the East Coast, which somehow just bores me to death. Furthermore, the LGBTQ community isn't very visible on campus, though there has been a lot of support and activities regarding sexuality this past year.

While there may be a lot of partiers and superficial types on campus, there is also a strong presence in social-justice-types. Campus Ministry is big on organizing volunteering things, service trips, and awareness for many different causes. There are a lot of students who are extremely passionate about a lot of things. They are involved on campus, and loving making positive changes to the school. I feel like this is the only way you can truly appreciate Fairfield, is if you are actually engaged - which I fortunately am.
