I was born in New Jersey, moved along the east coast, and moved to cali for kindergarten. Went to Regnart Elementary, Kennedy Middle, and Monta Vista High. I am in Warren college and really enjoy this school. Came in with Applied Mathematics as my major, but changed to Cognitive Science w/ specialization in Neuroscience, however I will probably change to Cog Sci w/ specialization in Computation.

Education, of course, depends on your professor, but I had a few really good ones for environmental studies. He was passionate and informative but not pushy. He won't "convert" you believe in something another method or model is better. However, he will do in class iclicker questions to see the demographics for the different opinions. Professors can also be, I shouldn't say bad, but i would say "preoccupied". One teacher for example just moved to SD from Canada and would spend most of his time unpacking at his new home after work (i think). During class, he would be a bit sloppy in his presentation, but I would understand the material.

If you got into UCSD, they will send a roommate questionaire. be sure to put "relatively clean" as a quality needed for the roommate. I have seen suites with sanitary issues. (ex: leaving trays of food for weeks, things strewn all over the rooms, roommates not taking baths for 5 days straight, etc…) I am actually very happy with the suitemates I have. They are decently clean and very easy to get along with. They are all very knowledgeable and fun to talk with.

To be honest, I don't understand how some people think that UCSD is socially dead… Although it is true you have to have an eye out for the activities. 2010 Fall quarter, we had a few dances, a bruno mars concert, met Dileep Rao (the driver in inception and a researcher in avatar[ far east movement concert, and i personally met and befriended one of the founders of turnitin.com. These are only a few of the things that went on. Bill clinton is also coming next quarter for a speech! If you don't look for activities, you will think UCSD is socially dead.
