I have been here for about a year, and it has been overall a positive experience. I have already made friends with a group of people, and have already partaken in a couple of extracurriculars. The school work is rigorous but with the right conditioning/work ethics its doable; plus it will pay off in the future. A couple negatives is that the ratio is a painfully obvious thing for me, however you just got to be proactive and look for opportunity to make new friends-network-its a great tool. Another thing is that the administration does invest a lot of money into projects that are not top priority, at least to my perspective. We recently have a new athletic stadium built that was very expensive for a division 3 football team; RPI should be putting more of its money into research, promoting its name, and making college less expensive. Lastly, the city of Troy has nothing much in particular, however there are other attractions nearby to travel to such as boston/new york, plus its not a big deal because there is stuff to do here on campus with my friends. Overall, I would say that college here is worth it; despite the negatives and cynicism that others get (and I sometimes feel too), I feel that I am getting a great engineering education, great adulthood skills, and great networking with friends and people. Overall, I am carrying great memories that will probably serve me well into my future.
