UCSC is definitely an acquired taste. Either you love it or you hate it. There is some in betweeners but for the most part it goes either or. I come from SD so coming to SC was very different. However, having a great group of friends really helps out a lot. The campus is beyond beautiful!! If you are looking for a social college town, look elsewhere. But, SJ is close by and that is where you want to go, though if you dont have a car, not happening.
