I went to Bob Jones University not realizing that BJU's lack of ABET and regional accreditation would kill my chances of getting into engineering grad school outside of South Carolina.

Because BJU does not have ABET-accredited degrees, I can't become an engineer in the military - an ABET degree is required. Also, I can't become a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas until I've had 8 years of experience rather than the usual 4 years that an ABET-accredited degree requires. Also, I'll be subject to close inspection when the 8 years is up and may not be granted licensure because of the lack of ABET accreditation.

Because BJU is not regionally accredited, the University of Texas at Austin policies don't allow my grad school application to get through the admissions department; it doesn't matter if faculty grad counselors like me. By policy, they have no influence. Also, I am highly limited in career advancement in the military, law enforcement, or any government work.

Bob Jones University is a great place to get a Fundamentalist Christian education . . . but a terrible place to get an education in the sciences.

Don't lose thousands of dollars in salary and lots of opportunities by attending BJU, a school which has lost its focus of providing a quality education.
