Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
I transferred out of this university after my first semester, and now attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and have never been happier. The coursework at ISU generally was not very challenging, and the students I encountered aren't too hard pressed about academics. Many times I would go into my biology lab, where the majority of the class would have no idea what to do and the T.A. was not much help. Socially, there isn't that much to do on campus. There is a good amount of drinking, but much of it takes place in the dorms or at house parties. I felt very limited to what I could do at ISU.If you're looking for a more challenging cirriculum as well as a good social life, I strongly encourage you to look at U of I. The coursework is much more challenging and requires students to spend more time studying and doing homework, and academics here are held in higher regard. Socially, there is ALWAYS something to do. There are over 1,000 student groups, one of the biggest greek communities in the country, and the student body has so much school spirit. Ironically, when I transferred to Illinois, 4 of the girls on my floor had transferred from Illinois State as well with the same complaints I had. If you're looking for an easier time through college and a mediocre social life, then ISU is the place for you.
