let me first off say that i am a Christan and i believe in god.despite almost everybody (including the media) talking about the horrible things they preach at this university, i decided to give the school a try. i had a positive attitude and was very excited upon arriving at liberty, but boy was that a big kick in the balls.
The school

so obviously, "liberty" university is a Private fundamentalist baptist college created by no other than the infamous Dr. Jerry Falwell hell bent to brainwash everyone that dares to attend his university. the education is very bias with an extreme Christan point of view. generally people at this school believe that the earth is 10000 years old and at one point dinosaurs and humans coexisted like the Flinstones. you have some required classes to take like genEd evan some bible classes and creation studies. from what i hear, tranfering to a more legit college is difficult due to liberty's bad reputation (depends on how long you are at liberty). teachers are pretty nice and will help you if you ask.
The facilities

although Dr Jerry fatwell was an evil man he was very wealthy and knows how to flaunt it. the facilities are very modern and well maintained and recently snowflex opened which i personally think is pretty cool. the student center is new and a great place to hang out or work out. the east campus dorms are the best. its almost like living in an apartment. this is all part of a diabolical plan to reach their goal of like 20000 students to attend "liberty" unfortunately this tactic proves successful and many fell into the trap…
Big Brother is watching you (rules)

ah yes, gotta love the rules otherwise known as the "liberty" way. the liberty way consist of overwhelmingly amounts rules and regulations so many that you will have to see for your self but ill tell a few. there is curfew mon wed thurs is at 12 am tues is at 10pm and i believe sat and sun is at 12 30 am or 1 am. the curfew isnt that bad since there is no night life at lynchburg or parites or anything exciting. at curfew the RAs do room checks to make sure your in the dorm. alcohol is obviously not allowed and at this school they actually enforce it. no R rated movies and there is a dress code for men and women(google liberty way for more info).every tuesday night at 10pm you HAVE to go to hall meetings and after that prayer groups which is completely pointless and god forbids you don't go your screwed. its very hard to avoid prayer group and hall meeting since they always check and make sure everyone is there. people are not allowed to visit the opposite sex's room at all. the internet is censored no better than Chinese internet. you must also abide by the liberty Christan values no matter how crazy it is. on an interesting note, while you are on and off campus you are still under the claws liberty way (as long as u attend liberty). failure to comply to theses ridiculous rules will be unmerciful. depending on the unholy crime you commit it could be from just a slap on the wrist reprimands suspension or expel. they usually like handing out reprimands or fines. you can get fines for just about anything from forgetting to make your bed to being insubordinate etc. the fines \(SRF:ELEMENTS:19xsrf\). so never miss convo they will notice. my advise dont fall asleep or u will be fined $$$.

the town of Lynchburg
Lynchburg is a small city with not much to do. they have a walmart a mall and a dollar movie theater. it gets boring pretty soon and eveything closes down at like 9pm. i feel bad for the city because it got a big nasty tumor growing. i talked to some of the locals and they dont even like liberty university but they cant say anything because they are to afraid to speak out. i wont be surprised that in the near future Lynchburg gets renamed "Falwell City"
The moral of this rant

this school blows. it was a waste of my time and everyone at liberty is so uptight! if ur majoring in science or engineering premed go to a real college that has a good name for itself. unbiased education will get you far in life as well as a good job. if you still decide to go to liberty prepare to lose your rights and get brainwashed. oh and one more thing if your not a baptist they will try to convert you. i am going to save my sanity and transfer to a REAL college as soon as this semester is over. ye be warned!

Responses
responseYou choose to attend a fundamentalist Christian college, founded by Jerry Falwell, as you point out, and then you proceed to complain about just that. How to put this politely… not everyone is college material and perhaps you would better spend your money at a trade school focusing on something you can do with your hands.
commentThe university uses a "milk before meat" approach, advertising the less insane aspects of the school before enforcing the draconian rules of the students. I don't believe that there's anything wrong with the reviewer here, and your response is absolutely rude
commentUm, basic grammar, punctuation and capitalization in your review tells us that education is most certainly NOT important to you. Why on earth would you enroll in a conservative Christian university without knowing its worldview? Do your research in advance!
commentThis reviewer paints a very distorted picture of LU. Besides his review being very emotional, his ad hominem attacks on the founder Dr. Falwell, his unfair generalization of the student body (are they all arrogant and stuck up?), and mainly untrue critique of the academics at LU this reviewer completely misrepresents the spirit of the Liberty Way.

Yes, there is a student behavior/honor code, but this student should have read it beforehand because he/she signed it; it is a prerequisite to being accepted. However, the spirit of the Liberty Way is not to stifle your life and make it boring, but it follows the spirit of the Christian faith.

His claim that the school want to brainwash its students is also untrue. Yes, the school has a position on the age of the earth as well as many other things, but it doesn't force you to believe it. It teaches it and tests on it, but that's not the same as saying it tries to brainwash you.

Also, the majority of the students at LU and almost all the faculty are very helpful, genuine, and friendly.

I know all these things because I have attended LU for 4 1/2 years. I'm not a Baptist, but of a different denomination, and I had no problem in any of my classes. If anything, it helped me ask helpful questions about what I believe.

I believe it is unfortunate that this student left the school with this impression, but I find it hard to believe that he/she had an objective view in his/her review.
