As a freshmen there were things about the University I loved and things that I hated. However, after visiting old high school friends at their schools I have come to realize the things I hate about UD are happen on every college campus. There are no schools I have visited that don't have parties and don't have professors that can sometimes be difficult to get along with. UD is no exception. The things I love about UD greatly outweigh those few things that happen at every college. The thing I will say to people who think that the school is only about parties is - if you don't like parties, then don't go to them! There are tons of things to do on campus if you don't want to go out and get drunk. Just check UD's website or your e-mail and you can find a plethora of things to do to keep you occupied. The professors here can seem a bit stand-offish at times, but I have realized that is hardly ever the case. If you walk up to any professor after class they love to help you out and answer your questions. Once you show them you are curious and interested they will sacrifice tons of time to help you. I had a professor once that seemed like a total hard-ass, but when I finally asked him for help he softened up a lot and even stayed till 10pm to help me and my friends study for an exam.On tours they tell you that the school is "medium-sized." They are right in that you don't have to walk very far to get places, but there are a lot of students that go here, so it may seem big at first. The best way to make it actually feel medium sized is to get involved in something. Don't just be a student that studies and parties. Once I got involved in the different clubs and activities on campus the school suddenly seemed a lot less like tons of snooty kids from NJ, and a lot more diverse. The campus truly is full of some of the nicest people in the country. So overall, UD is an amazing school, but you have to be willing to break out of your shell a little bit and try new things and be willing to meet new and different people.
