First of all, the whole University is a joke. They admit more students each year than they even have room for; no housing, no parking, over-loaded classes. Yet somehow they manage to lose money and fall deeper into debt every year. The place is constantly under construction, but nothing ever gets done. Often work crews have to come back to fix their blunders the first time.

Next, I can tell you that hypocrisy and ignorance rule in the outdoor education department. They have a reputation that is so over-rated it is a crime. The reputation comes from professors' research, unfortunately the cost is that they spend more time on research than students. The wants of the faculty come before the needs of the student in every situation. Most professors have no idea what the exorbitant lab fees are spent on, equipment is old, and there's not enough of it.

This department went as far as to build a climbing wall with no plan to open it to anyone. This is a fact, not even outdoor ed. majors can use the wall, forget about the rest of the student population. This "investment" is sitting unused day after day in an area that used to be used for First Responder training.

All I wanted was to gain some real skills that would help me in the field, all I got was an obscene amount of debt and busy work, with no actual leadership experience.
