I'm a junior here and I love it for the most part. Sure the city is not the best and the weathers sucks in the winter. But my classes are stimulating and interesting, the professors are so knowledgeable and helpful for the most part, and I have made amazing friends. College is what you make of it no matter where you go. I got involved in various clubs and activities like Greek Life and that has made my college experience amazing. Syracuse is a big school so if you're the type to not put yourself out there you may get lost in the crowd. Just be approachable and get involved and you'll make great friends and have a good time. The only downfall is that there's a large student population from Long Island and NYC and most are very wealthy and you will know it. There are a lot of BMWS, etc. up here so if you don't have money, I'm not sure how well you would fit in. But there are students here on scholarship and loans who are not rich so it just depends on your personality. The surronding city is not great as far as nightlife but there are house parties, frat parties, and a few decent bars. If you don't drink there's movie nights, comdedy nights, and sports game, especially SU basketball!!As far as academics go, if you're willing to work hard and put in effort (and go to class!! instead of skipping) you will learn a lot and get a good GPA. I feel like I'm going to be well prepared for grad school because I put in the effort to be. Professors are willing to help you despite the large class sizes in intros, go to office hours or approach them. Most are really wonderful and accomodating. All in all I'd say Syracuse is amazing and well worth it.
