Major: Finance (This Major's Salary over time)
Everyone who applies should understand that the majority of the student body is catholic school kids. Coming from a New Jersey public high school, it appears to me that everyone acts as if they are better than you. I had a friend visit me from Manhattan College, and he too says that he has never seen so many stuck up kids. Girls who are almost as good looking as roadkill believe they are Victoria's Secret models (I can not emphasize this enough. Girls are really ugly at Fordham, except for a handful of exceptions, who are really stuck up.) They are unapproachable until they are 2 drinks in, when they became black out drunk. The only time the students are brought back down to earth, is when walking outside of campus in the Bronx. They do their best not to stick out in the ghetto. Despite what you think, the Bronx is nothing like New York City. It is an ugly and depressing area with only one semi nice street, Arthur Ave. The only good thing about it is how easy it is to get alcohol underage. If it wasn't for that I might have killed myself a long time ago. Fordham's motto is DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THIS SLOGAN. New York CIty is really an inconvenience to get to. You either take the subway, which is a known place where students get mugged at least once a week, or the Ram Van which runs between the Rose Hill and Lincoln Center Campus's. The problem is that it runs until a certain time. Your third option is a $35-$60 taxi each way. I have met many alumni who graduated 20 years ago and they said Fordham was a great experience. I believe them, Fordham 20 years ago was full of nice, down to earth people, but now it is just a bunch of over pompous jack asses. Another problem I have with the school is the horrible core curriculum. I am forced to take 2 philosophy and 2 religion classes in order to graduate. That is an entire semester I am wasting. Philosophy classes are not what I expected them to be. I thought you can not be wrong in philosophy as long as if you provide reasoning, but I quickly learned that you can not be right in philosophy unless you provide the professors' reasoning. Oh and did I mention most of the philosophy you learn is catholic religious philosophy. The crappy curriculum, the stuck up student body, and the ugly surroundings all make for a horrible college experience. I am miserable and wish I never applied to Fordham. I regret it every day.
