I attended this school back in 1994. It wasn't difficult to get admitted, and I had high hopes of learning a lot of technical skills from the faculty. However, the faculty did very little as far as technical training, and the general education classes are of the "grade" yourself variety. Most classes seemed to focus on content rather than technique. I will say that this is a good school if you are extremely talented, need little guidance, and if you already know what you want to do as an artist. I knew people who smoked pot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and then I knew those who were very dedicated and focused on their work, so there was a wide range of students as with any school. Maybe I was took young when I went here, seeing as the school is in an urban, yet isolated environment. If you don't have a car, forget about it. Only the strong survive, I suppose. I would consider taking continuing education classes here, now that I have a college degree in a totally different subject area. One more thing is that some of the students are really competitive and will hog the studios, so you have to figure out how to get adequate space and time for your projects.

comment"first year female" does that mean you dropped out?
responseYes, dropped out and found a new subject area to study, because I quickly learned that I couldn't "learn" at this school.
responseThey just teach a specific way that is not for everyone. I had profs tell me I was horrible, but I looked at their artwork and decided if I couldn't be supported there I would just do it on my own..no big whoop. I gave up the art star fanstasy.
