This is in response to some of the Negative Reviews on BC. It is true that the entire Campus is VERY PREPPY, homogenous and wealthy. The Student Body is not DIVERSE in the Liberal sense of of the word. However, the school's AHANA program has been a very effective Cultural Awareness and/or Appreciation catalyst for Campus unity and harmony. With regards to Socio-Economic issues, the school was established for poor Irish Catholic Students who were rejected from Harvard out of prejudice and elitist dislike. That stated, BC is very generous with their Financial Aid packages even though the school is consistently ranked in the Top 10 of Most Expensive Schools in the country. BC is not for everyone—I'm not sure if they try to be. Whatever you feel about the school, the numbers certainly don't lie. Last year, over 30,000 HS Students applied for only 2,000 seats in the Freshmen Class. BC is renown for its highly competitive Core Curriculum, beautiful Gothic Campus modeled after OxBridge, success in Div 1 Athletics and a strong Alumni Network. I suspect that those who published Negative Reviews about BC did not sufficiently investigate the school's culture, mission, philosophy and history. Rather, they tried to supplant their version of an ideal school into an existing platform. The school tries hard to be inclusive. They just frown upon radical nihilism or senseless secularalism in moral relativity that fails to effectively contribute to the intellectual and social dialogue of the school. Don't believe me. Ask 10 current Boston University (or any other in Boston) Students what they think of their school. Next, ask 10 current Boston College Students what they think of their school. The results may astound you.
