Major: Art & Design Department (This Major's Salary over time)
This is a review for the Atlana SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design). I'm an Illustration major. The Foundation courses were good, of course like all schools you have good and bad teachers, though most of them are really good (i.e., prof. Hung is awesome! Ben Smith is Horrible!), but it's pretty easy to get the scoop on which prof's to take from other students. The illustration department is great, I love my teachers! They are also getting good at making contacts with the big company's around Atlanta and taking us on tours. We have really great people come to talk to us- James Jean was just here last week and we got to watch him do his magic. Every Friday we have the day off, but the school always has some really exciting person or workshop to go to. The only frustrating thing is that because the Atlanta campus is smaller it doesn't offer as many time options or courses, but I think thats changing as the campus is getting bigger. Atlanta is really a great city, I always feel very safe, and the area around the school in general is safe as well. Here is a big tip though…the school has a VERY strict attendence policy, you are only aloud 5 absences before getting an F, and they really take attendence. This is a good thing and a bad thing…it sucks if you have a legitimate reason, but at the same time, I see their point, SCAD is interested in producing artists that are responsible and can meet deadline and make it to work everyday…so this is probably how they weed out those that can't hack it.

questionAs an Illustration major, were you always on the Atlanta campus? My daughter is looking at SCAD for illustration, and I'm hoping to learn all that I can.
