OU is a great place to be. I transferred here from a small, private college and OU offers the resources and price of a large university while maintaining the intimate feeling of a smaller college. The students are mostly friendly and you'll run into people you know everywhere. The professors in my department have been very approachable and willing to help the students. I personally have never had a class taught by a TA. Contrary to popular belief, there are people here who do NOT drink all the time. There are plenty of other things to do if you are interested. If you really wish to stay away from the drinking scene, I recommend starting off in one of the alcohol/substance free dorms. If you do like the party scene, then you should be pretty satisfied here.

I love Athens. Its small town culture makes up for the fact that Athens is in the boonies. It is truly a college town. If you like spending time outdoors, you will love Athens! The campus and surrounding area is beautiful. If you love shopping and the city life, you may be driving to Columbus every weekend. The best shopping here is WAL-MART, unless of course if you are into cool thrifty stores. If you think you may like it here, come for a visit to find out!

The only thing I do not like is the quarter system! Getting out in the middle of June makes it harder to find a good summer job, and I would personally rather stay in classes for part of the 6 week winter break to get out sooner for the summer.
