Where would you go if not UT? |
Since I want to stay in Texas and follow finance, I wish I went to either Rice or UH. Rice is a little expensive, but its a great school from what ive heard. UH apparently has the 10th best finance program in the nation. So it would have been either one of those, more than likely UH. |
Hello, could you give an example of racism you or people you know have experienced? Also, would you recommend UT for people who aren't very sure of what they want to do as it has a wide range of course offerings and why or why not? Thanks! |
Why did you give academic quality an F? |
Poor academic quality--> perhaps because it has the 3rd most money out of any university in the US and its barely in top 50. 6 universities in CA have far less money and are in top 10. |
UT is ranked at about 50 because it is a large state school and must deal with state regulations in terms of admissions and so forth that top schools in CA and some other states don't have to. Most of the higher ranked schools either fall in the categories of private universities with limited enrollments and large endowments or public schools that are allowed to be extremely selective in terms of admissions. The rankings actually have little to do with true academic quality. |
To the above comment, it's laughable to even think that Texas has more regulations on education then California. California has 5 public universities in the top 10 public universities. UT is the richest public university in the US, they have far more many than any public institution in Cali and still cant compete. So for you to say UT has it harder becuase regulatory and monetary restrcitions makes your arguement null and void. |
Major: Finance (This Major's Salary over time)
When I got accpeted into UT I was estatic. But that pipedream soon faded after reality set in. The only thing that pushes this school and its students forward is its football team, and I must admit, as a highschool student I was caught up in the fanatisicsm. The students do nothing other than go to the played out 6th street and mooch off of thier parents. I have never seen a collection of lazier people in my life. The academics at UT are decent, but could be better. From what I've seen, most students cant balance a social life and academics in a tandem, most of which falter due to the former. As a minority, I felt exremely out of place! UT advertised itself as diverse, but that is far from the truth! Some teachers I have even come across are blatantly racist. I have made friends at UT, but I consider them out of the norm. Again, most of the students here know nothing oustide of obsesive drinking and living off thier parents. My girlfriend even has her complaints. She attends law school and dislikes it. The professors are mediocre and the students are truely cutthroat. Shes told me horrendous stories. One in particular that sticks out is when an assignment is given in class, some students leave early to the library to hide a required book, or even rip out required items neccesary for the assignment. All in the name of that Number 1 class rank.If I had the oppurtunity to go back and choose another university I would.
