First off - anyone who complains that you are just a number needs to get up off their lazy butt and actually make an effort to get to know the professors. I came from a small university and if you didn't make an effort there, they didn't know you either. It is no different here - this is not high school; grow up.

Secondly - I came from a top 15 nationally ranked business program. I left the school because, although they were ranked highly, I was unhappy with the quality of education there. The professors didn't seem to care all that much about the actual learning of their students. I have been very impressed with Ohio State. The professors are extremely intelligent and hard working individuals and truly care about the success of their students. The coursework is much more challenging here, but not impossible. I put in the work, take time to get to know my professors, and I do very well here. I have learned a lot more at OSU in one year than I did at my previous university in two years.

Thirdly - people here do care about a lot more than drinking. Yes, students here do drink very often. Can you name a single non-dry campus where students don't drink? This is the biggest university in the nation and it is in Columbus. If you can't find something to do besides drink there is something seriously wrong with your social skills. I go out with my roommates all the time and I don't drink, but I have a blast. Just walking around sober on a weekend here is more entertaining than any night I previously had at any other college.

Yes, a lot of your TAs will be foreign. However, they must pass rigorous English tests before being allowed to be a TA. Their English is probably better than yours. They may have an accent, but TAs teach in classes of less than 25 (such as recitations and labs) so it is very easy to pay attention and understand. All of my professors have been native English speakers.

I personally like the huge classes here. If I don't want my professors to know me or if I want to skip class - no big deal. If I want to get to know them, I can get an appointment same day, but the classes are big so I can still skip without them knowing. However, in addition to the big lectures, all classes have small group recitations of less than 25 students. This is your time to go over any confusing details and learn what exactly will be on the exams. To me, that beats the average university class of 50 students or so.

I work in the admissions office talking to potential students/parents and giving tours so feel free to ask me any questions.

commentI found this review to be very helpful. I am applying to Ohio state for the fall session and being an international student it was hard for me to choose which Uni's to apply too. This helped me a lot - Thanks

responseI am in-state so I can't speak for how things work out of state. I do know a ton of out of state kids that go here and are very happy. We get a lot of very bright kids and since we are the biggest school in the nation, scholarships can be hard to come by. Luckily, OSU is cheap for in-state and you get a really great education.

I'm not sure how SAT scores work but that looks like a good score. They have a website dedicated to scholarships and lay out the requirements for each. You should check it out.

Classes vary greatly. Your first year classes will be big, but I like it better than my 40 person classes at my old school. You may have a 200-600 person lecture, but then you have a small group recitation 1-2 days a week with about 20 people where you get to do small group interaction and get all your questions answered. The big lectures also allow you to skip classes and have nobody know :).

My upper level classes are pretty small. Anywhere around 10-30 people.

I like the OSU set up better than my previous school which had about 15,000 students.

questionI found your review to be very helpful as well. I'm entering into the school of business as a transfer student (econ major/finance minor). Just a quick question about housing. I heard the dorms on the north side of campus are better because they have larger rooms have air conditioning, and are closer to RPAC. However, some people say that south campus is better for socializing/meeting people, because it has more freshman. One of the reasons why I'm coming to OSU was because of social/sports scene since my old school wasn't as good in terms of that (small liberal arts college). I'm confident I can meet some really awesome friends, I would just like to get a jist of what the social scene is like at OSU. What are your recommendations in terms of housing? Also, how's the food on/off-campus? Thanks for your response
responseI also transferred in so I never lived on campus actually. If you truly want to meet people, I'd check out the Towers because they're huge! :) Location isn't so hot though.

I lived in a house near Lane and High (I hated dorms). It is an 8 bedroom house. I used OSU's off campus website to find roommates and it has been great.

The food is great. High Street is lined with great food and I haven't had any complaints about the food I have had on campus either. I don't eat on campus much, but I'll swing by and get something quick when I have class all day long and I am not close to High Street. The RPAC has great smoothies and Marketplace is incredible for food.

I sorta wish I would have sucked it up and lived in a dorm when I transferred here because it would have been a lot easier to meet people. Most everyone I met in classes did live on South campus in terms of dorms, but there are a ton of dorms on Northeast campus as well which would be convenient with the business school!

questionYo bro…i'm in the same suituation as yours…I got into UT Austin's Economics program and OSU's accounting program. I want to become a CPA but i'm confused over which univ to choose. I dont have the heart to forgo UT Austin but, at the same time, dont wish to pursue Economics. However, I can take the ECO-MPA path at UT and do CPA through that. SO please suggest me what to do? email me at _email_removed_ …thnks
questionHi bro talk about the TA. What kind of courses do TA give. ps:i am major finance student there
responseHi I have read your review and I agree almost wholeheartedly how OSU gives people a top notch education along with having a vibrant and very active social life with many opportunities and options. Don't mention the reputation it has nationally and internationally.

At my current school, I have not been happy with the educational quality because of the motivation level of the students which doesn't seem to be there. The attitude seems to be that they don't care much. I also don't feel as though I am learning much to prepare for the real world ahead of me. Even so the program I am looking into isn't really that great nor is it anything recognizable. Not only that, the education here I am getting is "second rate" or average at best.

Socially I have found my school's social culture to be kind of insular, but more so cliquish . At the same time, I find the partying to be too much on that side of the social life which there does not seem to be a balance. People as I have found out seem to be interested in the friends they went to high school with along with from high schools they recognize. Not to mention, culturally and diversity wise, they don't seem to be interested in it that much. Even so the social scene and culture is limiting to me. OUtside of that, the opportunities for involvement is limited. Even the downtown is a bit limited as well after a year.

COming from out of state while I still want to stay within the region where OSU is- the midwest while I embrace the people, the culture, I am definitely looking forward to transfer to OSU- the Ohio state university for a better, more real world college experience Ive yearn for from time to time after I am done with my fall semester. Especially overall while I felt like it was such a mistake for me to have gone to my current college , I don't feel as tho its lived up to its potential nor did it help me develop my potential as much. After all, I have figured out in the long run, its not my cup of tea academically or socially- wasn't quite a great fit for me.

However since I embrace the midwest and the people and experience, I really do want to stay in the region. Seeing that OSU is great in so many ways academically, socially with many options and opportunities for students to enjoy, could you tell me how do you like OSU? What do you like about it?

questionYou mentioned you worked in admissions department while attending school - is it worth appealing an admissions decision…everyone in admissions says it's not worth it and that it usually doesn't make a difference. I am thinking of going to Univ of Cinci and then maybe transferring to OSU since I didn't get in. What's your opinion. 24 ACT, 3.80GPA - my appeal would show my 7th semester at 4.0GPA with 4 year science (Physics) and AP Govt.
questionYou mentioned you work in admissions! what are the chances of getting in with a rigorous course load (5 aps total 2 junior year) buy a 3.0 gpa and a 31 ACT with plenty of extra curriculars?
commentI also used to work as a teacher both at school and at the university. But as for me, this work is poorly paid, and besides, it is ungrateful. This is my personal opinion. Apparently I had a bad experience that I decided to take up trading. If you are interested in how much is a pip worth, then you can read about it on the website thanks to which I was able to understand this topic.
commentYou know, I realized for myself that I want to take a loan for studying and go to study. It took me a very long time to decide on this, but I think I'm sure now. I issue a card on this site, because I trust only him, everything is also safe here and my data will not be scattered all over the Internet. I also advise you as much as possible, a great site!
commentThanks for the review, but I doubt if it is relevant to learn accounting? Perhaps there are easier ways to make good money without wasting time on learning.
commentI am sure that it is a waste of time, because instead of studying what is useful to you, we often study unnecessary information. I made a choice in favor of crypto trading and crypto trading bot coinbase pro, so I am constantly learning something new and useful. I think that education in the future will become more narrowly focused.
commentOh, that's really interesting! I'm planning to get engaged in finances because that's a pretty profitable sphere, and I'm thinking about this university.
commentWell, to be honest, there's no need to go to university to start making money in that field, and I think that you can find all the necessary information on the internet. For instance, you can check out and start trading. I think that with this digital wallet, it won't be a problem to manage your funds.
commentWell, I can't say that studying at the university was a waste of time for me. I managed to learn a lot about trading when I was younger, and I can tell you that it helped me become a trader. I started using Bitcode AI to make money, and I can tell you that it turned out to be a great source of income for me.
