As a sophomore, I have been very frustrated with things at RIT. Many students in my major would agree with the statement that RIT is only concerned about your money and as long as they have it, you're only a number. Additionally, the tuition rises more than it should due to RIT buying things that do not even benefit the student, such as Segways for Public Safety to ride around on (which are slower as the students walking beside them), new laundry facilities which were smaller than before, limo buses for field trips, and demolishing housing to build new that most students will not even be able to get into due to fierce competition (most students were placed at the RIT Inn for housing this year). Deaf students abuse laundry facilities and are rude to most other students, even if the other students are minding their own business. As a female, be careful about stalkers and perverts. I had three stalkers my first quarter here. Also, if you are considering in living on an intensified study floor because you are a student who is concerned about your grades, it does not mean anything. Most students are just placed onto the floor and they do not care about if other students want to study or sleep. As a bit of advice, if you are a reasonably mature and intelligent person who does not party nor is a video gamer, RIT is not the place for you. Over the past two years, I have been lied to. If you want an internship, you must pay an additional $1600 on top of the cost of tuition (it's not included—I found out the hard way through the bill), and co-ops are not included for the school of design, although I was told they were. In addition, you may find yourself in a class of 120 people, not just 30 like most tell you. Most teachers are more concerned about you teaching yourself out of a book (or online tutorials), so if you are a hands-on learner, like most design students are, you will have a difficult time here at RIT. If you have a problem with anything and try to contact RIT staff, it is highly unlikely that your problem will ever be solved. Also, if you are expecting a lot of events to happen at RIT, think again. Despite what RIT tries to tell you, most events are scarce and lame. If you do not have a car on campus, you're stuck and will have a miserable time. Lastly, if you make it on the dean's list or have a 4.0 every quarter, don't expect it to mean anything to RIT.
