Looking back, my years at PCC were good. All (or most) college students are in a hurry to graduate and "start their life" and I was no exception. However, the atmosphere of the college and the excellent curriculum and teachers helped me to prepare for my life beyond college. In the type of field I am in (public accounting), you can only really be taught so much (mostly theory) in the classroom. There are of course problems to solve but a lot of knowledge comes as a product of experience. I would imagine that's true of a lot of fields. So students shouldn't feel as though their college education will prepare them 100%. I've told many people that I never felt as stupid as I did my first few days of work after college. However, the things I learned in college - both academically and spiritually - have helped me to deal with the obstacles I've encountered in my professional life and prepared me to learn quickly with on the job training. The college's reputation hasn't really helped much as most people I have encountered in my career haven't heard of the college. However, the lack of collegial recognition has not been a hinderance either. Each student is going to need a different environment to thrive. PCC's environment suited me (for the most part) and helped me to thrive - both at college and beyond. There will always be pros and cons to every college, just as there are pros and cons to every job. The key is to learn to deal with both organization and interpersonal "cons". In every stage of your life you will encounter the same kinds of people; you may as well learn to deal with them now. The most important decision for college is to go where you feel you will receive the best education. The second most important is to go where you feel the atmosphere/environment of the college will best suit you. PCC is not for everyone. But for those to whom it appeals, it is a good school that provides a good education and a clean, spiritual environment.
