Boston College will try to convince you that it is not a parochial place that is overwhelmed by the influence of the Catholic Church. Don't believe it. This place is full of people who really don't want to expand their horizons or consider different points of view. It is not diverse, compared to other universities of its stature. Issues arise here that would not be controversial at any respected non-religious college or university-can there be a gay-straight alliance? How about a pro-choice speaker? The enforced answer of the church is NO. But Bush toadys like Condi Rice who champion a war the church opposes in Iraq are more than welcome. Go figure. If you come here, bring insane enthusiasm for BC sports and not too much brain power.
