Where are you transferring to, if I may ask? What schools do you think Northwestern is in the same league of? |
I think the Midwestern Demographic comment is right on the mark. In the Midwest, it's all about finding that husband and being "settled" by age 25 at the latest (or by 30 if you go to med school). And if you exist outside of their close minded comfort zone, they don't wanna know ya. So many of them all seem to know each other through BBYO, which is like a cult for Jewish HS kids. |
Major: English (This Major's Salary over time)
Come to Northwestern if you want to be in high school again. Being from the East Coast, I found the midwestern social demographic to be radically different from what I had expected. Students are smart (mostly), but a majority are not really interested in learning, rather, they want to earn the Mrs. degree or make a lot of money upon graduating. Also, evidently this year marked a record-large rush for the Greek scene, making NU one of the biggest Greek strongholds in the midwest. Make what you will of that. What's unfortunate is that the faculty and classes are so good but no one seems to care. I'm transferring next year, definitely: I don't want to be remotely affiliated with most of the individuals in my class, so I will not be getting a diploma from Northwestern.
