This is really a great school, with lots of options. You can study 24/7 if you want, or you can mix your work with play and still be successful here. It's all about finding a balance that works for you, and UVA has so many options for studies and extra curriculars that it is easy to find your groove (just remember, it while be difficult at first anywhere you go because transitioning to college is a challenge in general!). There is a lot of Greek presence at the school, but it is by no means the only social outlet - there are lots of other things to do, or you can still go with the Greek scene when you feel like it without having to pledge a frat or sorority - I have enough friends in them that if I really wanted to, I could involve myself with them more. Charlottesville is a nice town, even though I'm not very fond of the south and the country - it's a good setting for the school.
