I tranferred out of this school (to BC…HUGE difference a few miles can make) at the first chance i could. academics are so sub par yet somehow no one can manage to get decent GPAs. classes are huge (i had one that was 300+) and there is absolutely no point in going to most. profs are boring, unqualified, unenthusiastic, and arrogant. grade deflation is a huge problem if you're trying to transfer but i got out early enough to not have as bad of a gpa than most…

honestly, some people love it (i have no clue why) but they are mostly the people who barely got into BU nevermind into any other half-decent school. social life is TERRIBLE and BU seems to think that FRESHMEN can room with SOPHOMORES/JUNIORS and still have a good college experience. there is no community at BU (and yet it feels like a community college). the geniuses who planned out to school thought, hey lets put together a campus thats 3 miles long and space out the dorms so no one interacts with anyone other than the people in their dorm because everyone else is at least 2 miles away.

BU bribed me into gonig there. they gave me tons of money and promised i'd be happy. they make themselves sound good by sprinkling a few noble prize winners here and there and paying for big-shot speakers every few weeks. they treat you to a nice catered meal in a heated tent at open house, give you tons of "free" plastic goodies, and build million dollar apartment-style dorms (that are IMPOSSIBLE to actually get into) to convince parents with bulging wallets that BU is a good deal. sure the communications department is supposedly the best in the country, but how do you believe that when the dean of the COM school is currently being investigated for lying about his achievements?

but…if you like riding the T at 9 in the morning with hundreds of miserable, cold, wet, and uneducated students and going to a class with less than 20% turnout, go for it. BU is a good time if you get lucky and make friends with your floormates/roomates but otherwise, you can look forward to lonely nights, apathetic students/RAs/advisors, unfriendly upperclassmen, terrible extracurriculars, and a shitty daily newspaper that can't seem to spell any word right (they once misspelled "boston") save the money and buy a vacation house. or several BMWs.

questionHello,
I really liked your comment about BU. a ctuallu , I was really sad for not being capable of getting into this university ( COM ) beacuse I scored 93 in the TOEFL and the min required was 100!. That's why I switched to Suffolk to do a Master in PR/Advertising. However, deep inside, I still feel sad for not attending BU COM. Do I still have to feel this way???

Thank you!
