i went to fau basically because i didnt really know what i wanted out of college except a degree and that whole college experience. I lived in irt and shared a dorm suite with 3 other girls and basically those girls and a few frat boys i met during the hurricanes were the extent of the people i met there its really closed off nobodys ever outside their dorm and therefore you never meet anybody i had friends that lived in algonquin which is a pretty crappy building but doors were always open. when it came to classes some were huge and a lot of professors didnt speak clear english which made it hard to concentrate in the big lecture classes. it is a relatively easy college once you figure out just how to give the professors what they want. the students as a whole seemed generally unmotivated. Boca Raton is also a pretty snooty place the only benefit of the area and it is a great one is the beach, its right down the road and its were most of the students are whenever possible. However if you dont come from a lot of money its very likely youll feel out of place theres more mercedes, mazeratis and bentleys in that town then any place ive ever been to, the shops are expensive and the people are rude. And in case you dont know the area is filled with jewish people not that its a negative thing by any means but it is reflective on the student body, clubs, and professors. (bonus jewish holidays=no class). Bottom line if you want the kind of awesome college experience you hear about dont go to FAU because chances are you wont find it. Personally I met a ton of awesome people made many memories. whAT you put into it is what youll get out of it just remember at fau youll have to put a lot in to get a little out. If you do go go greek i didnt and regret it its easier to meet people that way and they have some decent parties nothing like a bigger school such as UF but at least they have em. In the end though I chose not to go back my sophomore year because I was spending to much money and not getting the education i was paying for.
