IU is all about the atmosphere. The beautiful campus, rich university traditions (such as the Little 500, IU Sing and IU Baseketball to name a few), a beautiful wooded campus surrounded by state wilderness and a small yet vibrant college town make IU a wonderful place to go to school. The students seem genuinely happy and the campus has nice warm vibes. The academics vary depending on what program you're involved in. Sociology is similar to most other humanities as it is only as difficult as you choose to make it. If you choose to take advantage of all of the opportuninites available and take the honors track, you will find it a very rewarding major (if Soc is your thing that is…). The bars are fun and seem to be the focal point of the social scene along with an abundance of house parties. Lots of booze here, but then I would expect that at any university. There is plenty of other things to do, but they take more seeking out. A few of the downsides of IU:
