Very liberal school. If you are out to party, Santa Cruz is the place, but if you need to hit the books, the academics can be a challenge but will prove to be woth it in the end. Most faculty is nice. There are many opportunities to do undergrad research as long as you put in the time and effort. Competition is weak, so its easy to get ahead with some effort.
