Hello, I'm at BC right now and i'm already considering transfering. I agree with the large "preppiness" group. I feel like the school is very much focused on their sports and attempts to be as focused on their academics too. I've only been here for about a week and I'm somewhat unhappy already. I don't feel like this is the place for me, I feel uncomfortable around the rich preppy kids which sounds childish, but being the only African-American student in my residental hall might make it more apparent to you why I feel so uncomfortable. I also come from an extremely diverse school and to find that there is an acutal majority of a race/ethnicity and to acutally be the minority feels quite awkward and unplesant. My question to you is, how do you feel about BC now that you are about to graduate this spring? What has changed for you, do you feel better about BC now. Have you transfered from BC to another school. I'm already considering transfering to Wesleyan or Brown so I would like to know what you think on that as well.Thank you. |

I went to BC basically because I got rejected from Notre Dame, George Town, and all the Ivy's. I'm from the west coast and was ready to go away for college. I would rather go to a school with greater prestige but I must say that the education I am getting is pretty solid. My professors are very good and I feel like I am growing intellectually. That said, the student population is kind of annoying. Most of the people are nice but there is a great deal of "prepiness." The steriotypical student is a craddle catholic who comes from a rich family from New England. You don't see much diversity at all and everyone looks the same. While I would prefer to be at a school with great prestige and diversity, I can't complain too much. The campus is beautiful and Boston is a great city. The education I am getting is solid and the Universtiy is in a period of change. It is climbing on the US news college ladder every year and the future looks bright. While I get annoyed by some of the preppy kids who only got in because their daddy's and mommy's have a lot of money, not everyone is like that. It isn't a school for everyone so I would make sure you visit. Finally, if you like to party then BC is really for you. However, if you don't drink, the peer pressure could get to you. It is truly the favorite past time of the campus.
