Berkeley is not for everyone. Unlike a state school they do not take the time to prepare you for your next job. Berkeley does not require internships, daily homework assignments, nor do they have very small classes where the professor knows you by name and 'hopes you pass'. Berkeley is challenging, competitive, and worth every damn penny. The University teaches you how to challenge yourself and the ideas around you. Berkeley basically prepares you for graduate school and to be a scholar all your life. You are expected to be innovative and you're expected to learn on your own in order to develop yourself. Thus, don't go to Berkeley if you've been babied all your life, and don't go to Cal if you can't do things for yourself. Come to Cal if you want to be among people who liked to be challenged academically and socially. Come to Cal if you want to be apart of an amazing institution and learn to be insightful for the rest of your life.
