Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
I think that a lot of people have the expectation that a completely hardcore party school is going to be dropped in their lap. Granted, UCSD is not an SDSU or a UCSB. Thankfully! The largest complaint that anyone could have regarding the school is the social inactivity. Frankly, in my opinion, anyone complaining about this hasn't taken the time to see what UCSD has to offer. I am a member of a Panhellenic sorority as well as a few other clubs. The past three years have been the best of my life - I came to college a quiet, reserved girl. Today, I am confident and happy. It sounds cheesy - but you either take the high road or take the low road. Do you want to be the positive kid who has a great time or the little whiny kid playing counterstrike complaining that there's no social life? That aside, I think the academic climate is interesting. No matter what the major, there are going to be kids who are going to bust their butts and those that skate by and get A's. And the location is unparalleled. UCSD was one of my top choices, but seeing the ocean at sunset from the nearby cliffs is something that no other school can match. Beautiful. Bottom Line? Be positive, keep an open mind, and take a chance!
