I'm a freshmen and I've only been here for a semester, but I love it so far and I can't wait to go back after break. It is what you make of it, I guess. I've found some amazing friends that I love, and they make everyday so much fun. I didn't even want finals week to be over, just because I didn't want to come home and leave everyone. I'd suggest just going to college and letting yourself go. You only have this opportunity once, don't waste it constantly worrying about grades and what other people think. I'm not saying throw all values out the window, but the people I've met who don't like it here generally are those that lock themselves in their room 24/7 because they claim that they have too much work, or that they don't like the kids. I understand about the work thing to an extent (and yes, PT majors and the Health Science kids get a LOT of work), but one night out won't kill you, and college is SO much more than classes. As for the type of students that come here, kids here are generally upper middle class white kids, and if you aren't comfortable with that, don't come here. They're nice kids, and I know plenty of people who don't fit the typical QU student stereotype that get along fine and have plenty of friends, so I'm not saying that you shouldn't come here if you don't fit the stereotype. BUT, if you are uncomfortable with being surrounded by people like that and having friends, then Quinnipiac isn't for you. No school is right for everyone..some people do best at big schools, some people are happiest at small schools.. take a tour, find out as much as you can about the school, and decide what's best for you. If you just spend a lot of time researching every aspect of the schools you are looking at and think hard about what you want, you can't go wrong. The complaints that I hear from people at Quinnipiac is generally stuff that I knew about long before arriving here on move in day. For what it is, Quinnipiac is an awesome school, you just have to know what you want before you come here. There are a good amount of parties at QU and plenty of opportunities to meet people, but if you need expecting huge roaring frat parties, Quinnipiac is not for you (we don't have frat houses), if you're looking for a huge school with 40,000 people, Quinnipiac is not for you (we have about 5,000 undergrads), if you're looking for a school where everyone is going to study hard all day everyday, Quinnipiac is not for you (yes, people do study..but we also party, and drink, and have fun too). If you're looking for a place where it's easy to socialize and find pretty good parties if you look around a little, a small to mid-sized school with plenty of people to meet, but not enough to feel completely lost in, and a place where people work, but also know how to have fun, Quinnipiac may be for you. Personally, I spent hours thinking about and researching schools and knew exactly what I was getting myself into when I came here. As a result, I am EXTREMELY happy here, and have no real complaints about the school. The school in general has been very helpful to me whenever I had a problem, and they genuinely care about the students. I would choose QU again in a second.
