I'm so sick of people whining about how much they despise Hofstra. For the most part they aren't complaining about the school itself but the people. Long Island is like no other place in the country. It's almost like a completely different culture and it just goes to show that so many people are unable to come to terms with that fact. Hofstra University is like any other private school, with many positives and the expected negatives. One great positive is the guest speakers they get to come and talk with students. Just the other week, Spike Lee spoke to the School of Communication and this past weekend the Democratic Presidential nominee John Edwards spoke. Hofstra also has countless opportunities for it's students to take advantage, unfortunately most of them are too busy focusing on the negative aspects. With a highly regarded business, communication, and education program as well as other countless programs, Hofstra truely is a great school. People too often play into the negative stereotypes instead of coming into this experience with an open mind. Hofstra is a excellent representation of the real world with regards to the student body. Some are assholes, some are snobby and closeminded but then also you have a large bunch of friendly tolerant and all around kickass people. Also, Hofstra graduates are looked at with high regard in the job market, especially in New York City and the surrounding area.
