The University of Delaware has something of a "party" reputation. In a way, this is accurate. I knew a lot of people who got drunk every Thursday/Friday/Saturday night and who didn't appear too engaged with their courses. But for the most part, UD is a great school with a tremendous number of opportunities. As an English major, all my classes were relatively small. I had some classes with as few as 3 or 4 people, working with the professor, getting his feedback on your writing and research, etc. Many of my professors in all disciplines took time to seek me out and work with me personally. I can't tell you how much this helped me with my graduate school applications and subsequent performance in graduate school. You can probably tell from my review that I was a lot more interested in the intellectual atmosphere at college than the social atmosphere, so that's what stood out to me in my time there. Also, tuition there is incredibly cheap - particularly for the education you get. I was working my way through and paying my tuition and I found a lot of people doing the same at UD. Not a lot of schools are like that.
