The Professors are the best in their field, and have authored reference manuals that I use in my field on a daily basis. The co-operative education program is an excellent opportunity for focusing your career objectives. The reputation of RPI in the business community is excellent. Although I felt I was bright and achieved above average in high school, when I got to RPI I realized that I was one of the many nameless faces among 5,000 outstanding students. You can definetly work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and still have difficulty competing or achieving at the same level as some of your classmates. That said, at RPI it is important to cultivate a life out of school, and Greek life is an excellent place to learn leadership and personal interaction skills. There are also plenty of groups outside of the greek system. I strongly recommend hanging out with the architects! Or try a campout during GM week… Although there may be more "party" schools out there, you can have a fun time at RPI while still gaining an excellent education. Be sure to make use of the CDC and the co-op program, I think they are an important resource to help you succeed in a career. The job fairs are also excellent places to build your interviewing skills. You'll be glad you did when you begin to look for post-graduate employment.
