If you like the ocean and mountains, then you would love the campus; it's located right next to the beach. Santa Barbara is a small town; if you like a rather quiet place, then you'd like it there. If you want to live in the city like New York and San Francisco, don't go there; you wouldn't like it there, and I know it.In terms of academic reputation, UCSB is not the greatest school in the nation to be fair, but it is a good school. You will meet many smart people including faculty members and your fellow students.I majored in math; I don't say that UCSB has the greatest math program, but it was better than average. I can't really compare, but I thought that they have a better-than-average program.
