To me, Miami is the perfect college setting. On the surface, everything looks like I had imagined. Gorgeous red-brick buildings, beautifully landscaped gardens, and heated sidewalks. Everything is immaculate. Even the students are what you would expect to see at a college this pretty. Dressed fashionably in jcrew, most students can be seen smiling, even while scurrying to and from class in the winter cold. The quality of education is fantastic. Work is relevant, not random. The instructors are helpful, and positive, albeit office hours are sometimes impractical. The students are positive about school work, and during the week, academics usually take precedence over going out. During the weekend, the scene is huge, with random parties on nearly every block. Uptown is the place to be thursday through saturday nights, with a variety of fantastic resturants, bars, and night clubs. One of the Clubs, First Run, was ranked by Playboy magazine as one of the top college bars in the country. Believe me, it's deserving of it's ranking. Playboy also ranks Miami as the second hottest campus in the nation. Once again, believe me, it's deserving of it's ranking.

Worried about the freshman 15? Have no fear, the REC center is near. One of the top ten workout facilities in the nation, the REC is home to weight rooms, basketball and volleyball courts, racquetball courts, indoor soccer, indoor running track, massive climbing wall, Olympic sized swimming pool, diving well, leisure pool, spa, outdoor pursuit center, yoga and kickboxing classes and the like. Pretty much anything you could want. Free for students. The place is unbeliveable.

This semseter, Nappy Roots, Counting Crows, and John Mayer all played at Millet Hall. All three concerts were awesome.

Basically, if you're looking for a fun, positive, well rounded college experience with an emphasis on learning, Miami is the place to go. It's one of those well kept secrets, and truly deserving of it's Public Ivy tag.
