Major: Psychology (This Major's Salary over time)
UCSD is great if you don't like to party, but to all you freshman expecting to become budding alcoholics, prepare to be disappointed. Though all universities have a alcohol enforcement policies, they are merely for face value. UCSD, on the contrary, strictly enforces the prevention of underage drining, and the conservative population of La Jolla makes sure all parties are broken up before anyone can get drunk. So socializing is a challenge at times, but there are other opportunities.Daytime activities are in abundance. Surfing, kayaking, and all other beach/ocean related activities are always fun. UCSD is basically alive only when the sun is out, and when that goes out, so does all activity. The campus is dead silent by nightfall.Academics can be difficult (anything science/engineering) or can be easy (communications). Unlike many schools where most people are undecided, the majority of students at UCSD are already pre-med or engineering, and that can ostracize the social science/liberal arts major. The focus of the school is very one sided, with great strengh in the science/math fields. This can make taking other classes, like writing, feel like a waste of time. My advice: join a frat, change to science major, get a car, and buy a surfboard and you will be happy here.
