Yale is a wonderful place to live and learn for four years. My classmates are friendly, intelligent, socially conscious, and motivated, and my professors are inspiring and committed to teaching. Together, they have already taught me so much. All professors at Yale are REQUIRED to teach undergraduates; I think that says a lot about Yale's commitment to its students. The undergraduate residential living system, which divides the student body into smaller communities, is unlike any other in the nation. Each student is randomly assigned to one of twelve residential colleges, each of which has its own dining hall, library, recreational facilities, and traditions. The colleges are as diverse as Yale itself, with resources almost as great, and each provides its students with a home base and a sense of continuity for four years. And contrary to rumor, Yale students do NOT study all the time! We take our work seriously, because God knows, we're not paying $2798034963845 a year for nothing, but we're also not paying $2798034963845 a year to live in the library. So we take advantage of all the resources this university has to offer—we commit ourselves to extracurriculars, we volunteer in the community, we go to our friends' plays and athletic events, and of course, we party, like all crazy college students should.
