Work really hard in high schoolMar 10 2004Social Work
Work really hard in high school. That's all I can say. It really pays off. A good education is the most valuable thing you can get out of life, so strive to get one. You'll get one at Madison.
ACT: 32 Female
Decent grades, decent scoresMar 02 2004English
Decent grades, decent scores. I honestly think they randomly pick applications out of boxes. I was waitlisted at first and then accepted. And right now I'm getting mostly A's with some B's. It's just strange.

Visit the campus, prep for those ACTs, take AP classes in high school, and fill out your dorm information early! It's extremely difficult to graduate in four years, and the school does not let this be known. AP credits (you must get a 3 or better on the AP exam) are extremely helpful; I came in with 12 credits, putting me about a semester ahead, and I will barely graduate in four years. This is even more difficult for science & premed majors to swing.
If you're accepted, don't wait to fill out your dorm requests & send them in-- there are many overpriced private dorms that house the surplus of freshmen. These dorms are largely students from Chicago and the east coast, which is fine, but I know some Wisconsin/Minnesota residents that had difficulty adjusting while living in these dorms.
