UMass Amherst is receiving a record amount of applicationsDec 27 2008Journalism
UMass Amherst is receiving a record amount of applications because of their low cost and reputation as a college that provides a great education.

I can't say I really know what to do to get accepted into this school. Grades and SAT scores are probably most important, but then again I'm not sure.

The average GPA's are increasing. Last I heard it was a 3.5 and on the rise.
Went to community college and graduated with a 2Nov 07 2008Other
Went to community college and graduated with a 2.8 GPA. It saves a ton of money. Also look into what classes are needed beyond general ed classes because it can save you time and money.

If you transfer from a MA community college its so simple to get in. As long as your GPA is above 2.5 you will be fine.

I was in the top 20% of my class with a 3Oct 27 2008Business - Management and Administration
I was in the top 20% of my class with a 3.7 GPA. I had a few extracurricular activities. UMass took months to send me a decision, they were the last ones I heard from. They gave me the least amount of financial aid but for some reason I enrolled there anyway. It's not too hard to get in, I suggest eraly decision though because they get a ton of applications.
I had a 3Oct 27 2008English
I had a 3.2 in high school (really awful grades freshman/sophomore year, and a C in English [my prospective major] junior year, but honor roll all throughout senior year)...460 on math, 560 on English and 680 on writing on the SAT...I did a few extracurriculars... I was nervous that I wouldn't get in but clearly I did. I don't think it's as hard as one would think, considering the size of the student body population.
