Granted I got in to UF in 1989, butAug 20 2004Civil Engineering
Granted I got in to UF in 1989, but I applied for the Summer which was not as competitive. I don't know how I'd get in now since it looks like you have to have very high grades and SAT/ACT scores! I just hope UF stays "wellrounded" and not into a college for all geeks!
SAT: 1100 Female
Apply early, take as many dual-enrollment, AP, honors coursesAug 04 2004Political Science
Apply early, take as many dual-enrollment, AP, honors courses as possible. Nail the SAT.
One of the big factors that helps getting inJul 14 2004Political Science
One of the big factors that helps getting in is if you have a legacy of family member going to the school. I did not have one that went but I still got in so don't be discouraged. Extra curriculars help alot as well.
SAT: 1280 Male
I went to Santa Fe Community College for 2Jun 29 2004Other
I went to Santa Fe Community College for 2 years, then transferred in. That is probably the easiest way to adjust to higher education since the community colleges tend to have smaller class sizes, but with the same demand for studying/learning.
ACT: 27 SAT: 1280 Male
1) studied hard and got best grades possibleMay 17 2004Physical Therapy/Exercise Science
1) studied hard and got best grades possible
2) took a challenging AP/advanced course of study in HS
3) attached a personal statement to my admissions application even though one was not requested -- felt I needed to try to let them know I was
4) was "picky" who I asked to write recommendations
5) did extra volunteer and school based activities
