Do well in the fields of math and scienceSep 22 2004Engineering Department
Do well in the fields of math and science. Be involved in extracurricular activities. Develop good study skills and time management skills.
SAT: 1300 Female
If you want the best housing apply early decisionSep 17 2004Engineering Department
If you want the best housing apply early decision...otherwise you will need solid (not necessarily outstanding) grades.
ACT: 31 SAT: 1420 Male
You want to show that you are a well-roundedSep 09 2004Business - Management and Administration
You want to show that you are a well-rounded person. You want to show that you can manage great grades AND activities outside of class. Those are the kind of students who RPI is looking for now, rather than the people who just have good greads and personalities that suck!
ACT: 30 SAT: 1100 Male
Be involved in several things in high school, don'tJul 07 2004Chemistry
Be involved in several things in high school, don't just have really good grades.
SAT: 1230 Female
To get in to RPI, you should take AP/HonorsMay 03 2004Electrical Engineering
To get in to RPI, you should take AP/Honors classes in math, physics, and chemistry. Also, do try to pull of a high score on your math SATs (personally, I got a perfect 800, and got only 590 in verbal). Combined, try to get at least 1300. Their averages are 680 math, 630 verbal (1310), with the average range being 650-720 math, 580-680 verbal (1230-1400). Definitely take calculus. They want to see hard work and tough classes through grades and class levels, as well as natural brains through the math SAT. In my case, I ranked in the top quarter (not too good for RPI), but did take AP classes. SAT IIs aren't required, so definitely work hard in math, physics, and chemistry. It seems to me that RPI is a tech school for the somewhat gifted, seeing as how the average person is above the 90th percentile in terms of class ranking, combined SAT, and math SAT. As for humanities and english classes, just do the minimum requirements and BS it if you like. They don't care.
