I got in from my grades in high schoolOct 06 2005Civil Engineering
I got in from my grades in high school and a good SAT, I won't go into the score. I'll let you know a secret, I didn't even visit the school before I accepted the offer. I had many choices but RPI gave me that cool school feeling when I came for Student Orientation, except the room, bring a television! Just let the school know your passion for math, science, engineering anyhting they offer, and be ready to work if you got through high school easy like me. And a fridge can help too, for sodas and anything else you wanna keep cold.
I wouldn't say it's all that hardJul 18 2005Aerospace Engineering
I wouldn't say it's all that hard. Get good grades in high school, show that you're interested in math and science, do alright on your SAT, and maybe have some extracurriculars. There's honestly not a lot of well-rounded people here, so you don't need to be in like 1000 clubs to get in.

Keep up your grades in HSJun 27 2005Nuclear Engineering
Keep up your grades in HS. This is a major consideration in the eyes of those who are reviewing your application. Of course, it helps to be well-rounded, have good SAT scores, etc.
SAT: 1380 Male
I recommend communicating with administrative staff and people inJun 20 2005Mechanical Engineering
I recommend communicating with administrative staff and people in the department you are looking at going into before going to the school. I probably got into a lot of my schools that I was on the brink of getting into with grades, scores, and such by knowing administrative people at RPI about a year in advance of applying/going there. Being well rounded is also a great thing and having a social aspect to you puts you ahead of any competition trying to get in.
ACT: 27 SAT: 1350 Male
I was involved in high school in sports, activiities,Jun 19 2005Civil Engineering
I was involved in high school in sports, activiities, and took all of the advanced math and science classes that my high school had to offer.
ACT: 28 SAT: 1140 Male
