Getting into SternSep 26 2009Business - Management and Administration
Getting into Stern... requires you to have a combination of various talents in your mind and soul. Being good at math is not sufficient. Having a 2400 SAT is not sufficient. But having a 5 in BC Calc, 150 hours of volunteer service at an art gallery, and an essay about your idea of blending calculus and modern art into a successful future non-profit will get you in. Be passionate, and you will end up at a place where your passions will make you happy.
SAT: 2050 Female
Getting into the school academically isn't the challenging partMay 30 2009Perfomance Arts
Getting into the school academically isn't the challenging part (anyone with a 2000 SAT can get into the school), but the extracurriculars is what they want to see. As a drama major, I performed in every drama play at my high school, sung in choir, did National Honor Society, did charity work with my church and I've gone to summer programs for acting. These people want to see passion.
SAT: 2150 Male
I just did a fairly standard common APP plusApr 09 2009Linguistics
I just did a fairly standard common APP plus the NYU supplement. An essay about how much you love and work with children/the elderly/the community would not go amiss. You don't have to mean it, you just have to say it (which pretty much summarizes the NYU experience). Pretend to care, and you will be accepted. A year at NYU will kill your ability to pretend, but I guess some people love it....
All you have to do to get in isApr 08 2009English
All you have to do to get in is be reasonably bright and study for your SAT if you can't do well without studying.
