I applied to NYU as a senior with aFeb 20 2010Communications
I applied to NYU as a senior with a few good clubs, some leadership, 3.7 GPA, but HORRIBLE SATs. After being rejected, I took the ACT and did better than I did on the SAT, got almost a 4.0 during my first semester of college, joined several clubs with leadership roles, improved my resume by adding many more important awards/honors, got a job, and elaborated on my hundreds of hours of community service. And my essay was pretty good too. NYU wants you to be not just book smart, but also have a variety of interests outside of the classroom. Get excellent grades, but also have a lot of leadership roles and a job/volunteer work wouldn't hurt either.

Plan on having a 3Feb 01 2010Political Science
Plan on having a 3.8 or better. And write a knock-em-dead-you-can't-live-without-me-essay. Then prove it. That's all I can say.
Have the full packageJan 17 2010Finance
Have the full package. Grades, scores, athletics, leadership. It all matters.

Do really well in one thingJan 15 2010Psychology
Do really well in one thing. Show them your passion for a single club, activity, or area of study.

It can't hurt to be rounded, but all in all set yourself apart in a unique way. They want a 'well-rounded community' of very unique and polarized individuals. Not well-rounded individuals.
ACT: 35 Male

It depends on what school within NYU you applyJan 04 2010Biology
It depends on what school within NYU you apply to as I know they all require different things. In general, it is very very important to have high grades and good SAT/ACT scores. I am sure that a good high school profile will also help as many kids come from very reputable high schools.
ACT: 34 Female
