For the personal essay portion of the application, make sure you write about something that really makes you stand out. Remember that there are thousands of applications pouring in, so write about something that is going to make them remember your name. Most importantly (for any college) VISIT the school. It is the best way to see the school, talk to current students and admissions counselors, etc. Marist's tour takes you to nearly every part of the campus, including the freshmen dorms to see an actual freshman room!

I filled out the common application in order to get into Marist. I was very involved in high school and I was sure to put my extra curricular activities and show off my involvement in my resume. If you are looking to come to Marist, definitely visit the campus and meet with someone from admissions because they are extremly helpful, and they gave me all of my options and helped me make my decision.

The best thing I can recommend is to visit. While it may not "help" you get in, it will make you realize how much you love the school. That's what helped me decide I wanted to go there. Visit a friend you know there or set up a shadow day, it will give you an idea of what it's really like at Marist.

The Fashion Department at Marist College is one of the very few departments taht you must submit a portfolio or a project to in order to be considered. On the Marist Website this assaignment is clearly outlined. The Fashion program at Marist is very very competitive so this project is not to be rushed.
